SHC Construction Update, 4.13.15

NOTICE:

500 Pasteur Dr. Construction: Concrete pours for the walls and decks are scheduled for Tuesday, 4/14 and Wednesday, 4/15.

 

Pneumatic Tube Upgrade Project (P-Tube): Work continues in the Atrium, D, D/F and F Patient Unit corridors to install pneumatic tube piping. Beginning Monday, 4/13 work will occur in the ceiling above the Cast Room for approximately two weeks.

 

Materials Management Project: Ceiling and interior wall demolition is scheduled to start Monday, 4/13 for the Phase II space on the Ground Level of Stanford Hospital in the former Radiology Admin areas. Ongoing drilling and saw cutting on the Ground Level below Radiology CT #2 is anticipated for the next two weeks for rough-in of new staff restrooms. Work is scheduled 4 a.m. – 8 a.m. to minimize any impacts to operations.

500 Pasteur Dr. Construction

Regular work hours are 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., M-F; 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturdays

 

This Week (4/13-4/17):

  • Hospital Site:
    • Concrete pours for the walls and decks are scheduled for Tuesday, 4/14 and Wednesday, 4/15
    • Waterproofing, forming work and rebar placement will continue
    • Fireproofing activities are ongoing
    • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are being inserted in the deck
    • Steel erection, deck placement and welding continues
    • Rebar and other miscellaneous deliveries will continue daily as needed

 

  • Parking Structure Site:
    • Interior activities in the garage continue including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems rough-in and layout
    • Work to install steel around stairs and elevators in the garage continues
    • Exterior framing of the garage continues

 

This Weekend (4/18-4/19):

  • Work to assemble structural steel for 500 Pasteur Dr. will continue on Saturday, 4/18

 

Garden Entrance/Tunnel Construction

This Week (4/13-4/17):

  • Work to backfill the tunnel in the former garden entrance will continue

 

This Weekend (4/18-4/19):

  • Work to construct the walls of the tunnel will continue on Saturday, 4/18

Other Ongoing Projects & News:

Edwards Building (SoM)

  • Work is substantially complete
  • Painting is occurring on the North face of the building
  • Landscaping and irrigation are being planted
  • Clean up of the site is continuing

 

Pneumatic Tube Upgrade Project (P-Tube)

  • Work continues in the Atrium, D, D/F and F Patient Unit corridors to install pneumatic tube piping. The work will occur on the Ground Level only. Infection control measures and detour signage will be utilized as needed
  • Beginning Monday, 4/13 work will occur in the ceiling above the Cast Room for approximately two weeks
  • Project work began in November 2014 and is expected to continue through April 2015
  • Detour signs will be in place through the main corridor as needed during construction

 

Waste Management Project

  • Work continues to upgrade existing waste and materials management facilities at 300 Pasteur Dr. to accommodate future deliveries and material movement for 300 and 500 Pasteur Dr. and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
  • Ongoing site excavation for the expanded Waste Dock will continue along the North side of the ED parking lot
  • The exterior stairs at the waste dock continue to be closed for construction mobilization and demolition prep. A temporary exterior wall has been constructed along the North side of the ED ambulance vestibule for added safety barrier and duct control
  • Continued use of safety fencing in place near the ED parking lot. One lane remains open for emergency vehicles and visitors to access the ED. Emergency vehicles requiring staging space will be directed to reserved spaces
  • Access to the Emergency Department will be maintained at all times

  • Upcoming new plumbing rough-ins and sanitary sewer tie-ins for new staff restrooms work is ongoing
  • Some noise related to construction can be expected during construction hours

 

 

Quarry Road Crosswalk—Packard Expansion

  • Closure went into effect on Monday, 8/4 and will remain in place for approximately one year

Hoover II – The Stanford Neuroscience Health Center

  • Painting has started on the lower level
  • Wall layout and framing continues on all levels
  • Drywall installation continues
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation is ongoing on all levels
  • Work has begun on the outbuildings, including Fire Pump, Med Gas and Domestic Water
  • Installation of sun shades started, and glazing began on the first level
